Welcome to your Jupiter retrograde guide! Here you'll find all the details of the retrograde itself, including the station dates, sign/degree of the station, and the astrological energy of the planet as a whole. You'll also find your personalized retrograde guide based on your rising sign! This guide is meant to help you navigate the retrograde energy and see it as an opportunity for growth. Jupiter retrogrades are a time of backwards boons and roundabout wisdom. It’s when things can go in a completely different direction and it can seem out of the way or confusing, but it always ends up being right in the end. We’re also being pushed to find our inner wisdom and to explore ourselves on a deeper psychological and spiritual level. Jupiter retrogrades do not mean that our luck runs out, but rather, that springs from unexpected sources. These guides are meant to be just that, guides. They aren't going to tell you how to escape the retrograde or dodge its influence. What they will do though is give you a better understanding of the energy at hand. I hope they help you to see retrogrades as opportunities rather than obstacles.
I'll also be including advice from my tarot cards in each of the guides. The card for each rising sign will further refine as to how we can make the best of this astrological event. So, sit back, relax, and don't fear the retrograde. I promise we'll get through it together. Also, "Rx" means retrograde and "Dx" means direct. That's just some shorthand you'll see me use throughout the post.
The Conditions of Jupiter
Approximately once a year we experience Jupiter stationing retrograde. The last Jupiter retrograde was in September of 2023, and it was under the sign of Taurus. This time Jupiter will be in the sign of Gemini, which means the house that Gemini rules in your natal chart will be the main subject of the Rx for you. Jupiter is in its detriment when under the sign of Gemini, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad luck or wasted boons. It does mean, however, that Jupiter isn’t able to be as freewheeling and expansive as it normally would be. It has to adhere to the logical nature of Gemini, of Mercury, and that can at times impede the mystical nature of Jupiter. Being both in detriment and Rx will mean that we’re trying to find the logic in our whimsy. There is no such thing as blind faith when Jupiter is in Gemini. The faith needs to be grounded in something, and a Rx period is a great time to reassess your foundations within your personal beliefs.
Jupiter is one of the most spiritually significant planets, so retrograde periods can indicate times when we’re getting in touch with that aspect of our lives. Gemini isn’t the most spiritual sign, as it’s more intellectual and fact drive, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t love exploration for the sake of learning and expanding. The way that Jupiter finesses the sign of its detriment is through the common ground of curiosity. Learning new things is paramount for when Jupiter is in Gemini. This means the Rx period is about going to back and relearning something, giving an old interest a new perspective, or probing the depths of your own knowledge through deeper psychological and spiritual exploration. Language, writing, travel, and mental exercises are important to understanding the wisdom that this Rx has for us. Whatever house the Rx is happening in for you, that’s going to be an area where Jupiter is asking you to dig deeper and learn more. Allow yourself to be lead by your curiosity this Rx and see where it takes you.
The ruling planet of the Rx is Mercury, because Jupiter is in Gemini and Gemini is ruled by Mercury. This means we’ll also have to assess the condition of Mercury throughout the Rx to understand the full energy of the transit. Mercury is going to span a total of 5 different signs between now and the end of the retrograde. It will begin in Libra and end in Aquarius. There will also be a Mercury Rx that occurs towards the end of November in the sign of Sagittarius. This means that from November 25th to December 15th, both Jupiter and Mercury will be in their sign of detriment, as well as being retrograde. If the Rx has a peak point, 11/25-12/15 is going to be it. Jupiter will remain in the sign of Gemini throughout the entirety of its Rx, but with Mercury spanning 5 different signs, it means there’s going to many areas of our lives that will potentially be fueling our overall curiosity and wisdom. Wherever Mercury is can be considered a focal point that we can use to further investigate the house of Gemini.
